Goal
setting
This is a failsafe method
of achieving what you want to achieve, if you follow all
the steps. However it is invariably better if you have
someone to help you to achieve these goals. (That is whee
your coach comes in....)
1.
State your goal in positive terms. That is state what
you want, not what you don't want. i.e' I don't want to
be in this relationship' is not a vaiable goal. What is
it you really do want?
2.
Be specific. There is no point in saying 'I want more
money' - I can give you 5p and you have more money.
3.
Is it realistic? This is where only you know if whether
it is realistic for you to have what it is you are aiming
for. However - this cannot be used as an excuse for not
aiming high.
4.
Is it in your control? There is no point in having a goal
to have x person love you for that is not in your control
for it is dependent on the vagaries of the behaviour of
that other person. Your goals can only be goals which
you can influence.
5.
Are there any reasons why you should not have this/do
this? It is important to eliminate any objections in your
mind.
6.
Imagine what it will be like when you have achieved this.
Create in your mind a picture of yourself having achieved
what it is you want to achieve so that you have something
to focus on in order to achieve what you want to achieve.
7.
Action. Nothing, but nothing, will be achieved without
action. You have to go out and make it happen for yourself.
No one else will do it for you!
